Iconography is the visual images and symbols used in a work of art or the study or interpretation of these. In this task i will get screen shots from my chosen music video and comment on the Mise En Scene of them.

 



 

 

 

 

• All of the band members are standing central to the stage. Danny (the one standing at the front in the middle) is the lead singer, you can tell by the way the others are standing around him. The reason they are all standing close together is because it shows they are all close and friendly, where as if the were all standing apart there body language would show that they are distant and singing a totally different genre of song.
• All the band members are holding a piece of card that shows the lyrics of the song at that point in video. Tom (standing right at the back) is holding his piece of card upside down, he does not realise this at this point,which is showing a humerus side which you usually get with this type on genre.
• They are all overlapping each other, not just standing in a straight line. This is showing that they are having and messing about so they do not come across to seriously to the audience. This would appeal more to teenagers because they like to mess about and laugh and not take everything seriously.
• The lighting is this is high key. The key light in this picture looks like it is coming from directly in front of them and around the sides of them. This is to draw all the attention onto them. Also the background is dark to make the red card stand out against everything.
• The props in this picture are the band members, the card with writing on, a giant cut out of a heart that they are standing under. All of this resembles love and links in with the song lyrics.
